Meet the Artist From my earliest days, life has felt strange and laced with an unnerving eeriness that lingers even in the beautiful moments. My lived experience has consisted of a great deal of masking, clumsy fumbling and wide-eyed observation, trying to make sense of what it is and what it means to be human.
As an only child I could spend hours in the magical retreat of my bedroom surrounded by my beloved stuffed animals and dolls that were all very real companions to me. I could get lost in the details of a beautifully illustrated book or become mesmerized by the mysteries of the natural world outside my window, and would intently decode messages and perceived hidden meanings in both.
A Japanese Maple tree in my childhood backyard felt like a kindred spirit of sorts. I felt such peace in its presence, along with the Redwoods and Live Oaks of my California upbringing. And so began my affinity for trees. All of this shaped my ease with solitude and encouraged a natural inclination towards finding alliances with things uncommon and unseen.
The imaginative world of The Peculiar Fleurette is nestled within my own; a place where fantasy and reality, ordinary and extraordinary, amble side-by-side. Here I will tell stories and share musings, both serious and frivolous, through the whimsical lens of a persona called Fleurette. Like a quirky little flower that doesn't quite belong, she has learned the value of creating her own kind of beauty in the garden, and endeavors to bloom no matter how many times she finds herself trampled upon, uprooted and replanted.
Welcome to her eccentric, stylish and whimsical world.
